Junior Deputy Clerk Summer Internship Program
The Junior Deputy Clerk Summer Internship Program is an initiative of the Honorable Cathelene “Tina” Robinson. It is a non-paid internship program offering outstanding high school students throughout Metropolitan Atlanta an opportunity to become exposed to careers in local government and to earn community service hours required for high school graduation. Each intern can expect to gain hands on work experience, interviewing skills, life skills training and career development to help prepare them for the workforce and potential careers in local government.
To participate in this program a candidate should be:
• A rising 10 -12 grade high school student
• Available for the duration of the 6-week program
• Committed to work hours of 8:30 – 4:00pm daily
• Able to provide his/her own transportation daily
Candidates should be highly motivated and the ability to work as a part of a team is essential. Students with a keen interest in civil service and the judicial system are encouraged to apply. The program is open to students in public or private schools in Atlanta, Fulton County or the 13 surrounding counties in the Metropolitan Atlanta area.
The Junior Deputy Clerk Summer Internship Program is a six week assignment held at the Lewis H. Slaton Courthouse starting mid-June and ending in late July. It is critical for students to commit to the program in its entirety. However there will be a break during the 4th of July holiday to accommodate family vacation schedules.
The work day starts at 8:30 and ends promptly at 4:00pm. Students will be responsible for their own lunch and transportation to the courthouse each day. Throughout the summer, interns will be introduced to a broad overview of the Fulton County Clerk of Superior Court by rotating through the departmental divisions. The work rotation encourages experiential learning as a complimentary approach to their internship. Interns will participate in a community service project and will be provided with an individual mentor to teach them the importance of staying positive and developing a good work ethic.
